Making Music for Easter! #부활절
These days I am in the process of making my album to celebrate Easter.
Well, is it really necessary or meaningful to “celebrate” Easter, in such a tragic era?
Unfortunately I don’t have any reasonable answer for that question, but simply, because this is my job.
I need to feel that I am alive, and I want to see that I am functioning right as a human being, as part of this world.. So I decided to start working on it because this is the only thing I can do : to comfort my listeners and to bring them peace, even though they are not many.
The first recording was done by the double bass player Donatas Bielunskis whom I’ve met in Holland during my study, one of my sweet & talented friends. I was in a hurry because I don’t have an acoustic bass player in my network so asked him to help, and he just did it!
What technology, I am so happy and grateful that I still can feel connected with my friends.
Thanks Doni, with your immediate help this project started so nicely. 🙂

지금 저는 4월 부활절을 앞두고
개인 앨범을 제작중입니다.
코로나와 전쟁,
혼란한 대선 정국,
많은 사람들의 일상을 삼켜버린 산불까지
도무지 믿어지지 않는 뉴스들로 도배된 이 시대에
부활절 음악을 만드는 것이
과연 의미가 있을까요?
모두가 공감할 수 있도록 현명하게 대답하기란
대단히 어렵습니다.
게다가 특정 단체도 아닌 일개인이
부활절을 축하하는 음악을 발표하는 것을
저는 지금까지 본 적이 없습니다;;
그런데 왜 하는가..
뭐,,
그저 심플하게,
음악을 만들고 발표하는 것.
그게 저의 일이니까요. ㅎ
내가 살아있음을 느끼고,
모두를 품을 수는 없을지언정
다만 몇명의 리스너들에게만이라도
평안을 선사할 수 있다면
제가 할 수 있는 일을 하는 것이 맞겠지요.
그래서 시작한 것이랍니다.

그나저나
저는 왜, 이번에도,
이렇게나 촉박하게
작업을 하고 있는 걸까요 ㅜㅠ
지난번 크리스마스 앨범이
크리스마스 이틀 전에야 겨우 나왔던 악몽을
뻔히 기억하고 있으면서도 말이예요.
첫 정식 녹음은
리투아니아 출신의 재즈뮤지션,
콘트라베이스 연주자
도나타스 비엘룬스키스(Donatas Bielunskis) 에 의해 이루어졌어요.
주변에 어쿠스틱 베이스 연주자가 없어서
오래간만에 연락해 부탁했는데,
흔쾌히 부탁을 들어줘서 참 고마웠답니다.
멀리 떨어진 친구들과
메신저를 통해 소통할 수 있다는 건
현시대에서만 경험할 수 있는 특혜가 아닌가 합니다.
아무튼 무척 바쁘게,
또 급하게 만들어지고 있는
소박한 음반이긴 하지만
시간을 쪼개어 가며
할 수 있는 최선을 쏟아붓고 있습니다.
기대해 주시면 좋겠습니다. 🙂
