[즉흥연주 예시 1.]
This video is sort of the record of my improvised play.
Christine Cornwell (@csc_music ), a very creative and talented composer from the UK who studied composition for her master at Codarts with me, never stops attempting to make new music. When I met her first, I REALLY learned a lot from her attitude toward music and her creativity and curiosity. And the beautiful memories of playing together still affect me to keep awake. (Chrissy, I am serious! ♡)
Once we had a very good opportunity to play improvising music at the IFFR (International Film Festival Rotterdam) 2019, introducing the video with our improvisation before the movie started. During the audiences’ entry and till the screen gets bright, we just made the sound that we wanted to express with some small stuff. The audiences looked so interested and after that, one of the movie series ‘Say No More’ started beautifully.
I think this is the Free Improvisation, to focus more on SOUND itself and its own vibe, and our immediate emotion instead of making harmony and following the structure.
Such a good memory with her, indeed. 🙂

자유즉흥연주를 소개하는 예시로 적당할것 같아서 올려봅니다.
영국출신 클래식 작곡가 크리스틴 콘웰은 즉흥연주에 진심인 친구인데요, (거기서 저는 3년 내내 문화충격,, 상상이 되시죠? ㅎㅎ)
너무 괴상하게만 느껴지던 즉흥연주음악에 저도 어느샌가 관심이 가기 시작했고, 이상하게도 그 자유로움에 점점 빠져들던 저는 그녀와 함께 IFFR 2019 (로테르담 국제영화제.,2019년)에서 어느 선정작의 상영에 앞서 작은 무대에서 소개음악을 연주할 기회를 가지게 되었어요. 관객들은 생소한 음악을 신기해하면서도 귀기울여 들었고, 약 15분의 연주 후에 영화상영이 시작되었습니다.
저는 이게 즉흥연주라고 생각합니다. 주어진 틀, 화성, 멜로디를 벗어나 예측불가의 소리와 시간 자제를 즐기는 것, 그 순간 나의 감각과 마음에 집중하는 것.
거창하게 들리지만, 영상 속 음악은 소박하다는 걸 느끼실 거예요. 경우에 따라 어마어마한 사운드가 만들어지기도 하고, 때로는 숨소리 자체를 음악으로 사용하는 예측불가의 예술.
